Albuquerque is the county seat of Bernalillo County and is situated in the central part of the state. Every September, Albuquerque hosts the annual New Mexico State Fair with carnival rides, food and agricultural competitions. In October, the city hosts the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where more than 700 hot air balloons lift off at the same time.
